Leadership Team 2016
-Majbrit Dillenbeck (Flute Section Leader)-
“Before you horribly mispronounce my name, it’s pronounced ‘My-Brit,’ and I’m the flute section leader. I’m a rising junior and I don’t really have a life outside of band because clubs aren’t my ‘forte.’ My life falls a little ‘flat’ since all I do is watch Netflix and eat pizza all day. However, I have been told I’m pretty ‘sharp’ and am looking forward to working with everyone this year.”
-Alexis Walton (Color Guard Captain)-
“I am one of the two color guard captains for the THS marching band. I am a senior this year and this will be my 4th year in color guard. I am a part of student ambassadors club and NHS. My favorite color is either light blue or yellow, and I want to go into the field of cognitive research psychology. I’m super excited for the season, and I can’t wait to meet all of you!”
-Mae Golden (Clarinet Section Leader)-
“Hey my name is Mae Golden and I am one of the two clarinet section leaders this year. This is my senior year and I have been in band since 6th grade. I am in Student Ambassadors, NHS and I am in winter guard. I am so excited for this year’s marching season.”
-Joe Figliolo (Woodwind Captain)-
“Hello! My name is Joe Figliolo and I am a rising junior. I am in charge of all woodwinds and keeping everyone informed of events/dates. I play alto sax, tenor sax and I am in winter guard. I cannot wait to meet you guys and share with you the amazing show we are planning.”
-Melanie Mazurek (Clarinet Section Leader)-
“Hey I’m Melanie and I am one the clarinet section leaders. I have played clarinet since 6th grade and I am now I am a senior. I am so excited for what this season is going to bring and I hope to be able to set a great example for all band members. This year we have so many ideas and thoughts for the marching show and the season and we cannot wait to show you.”
-Tyler Hildebrandt (Battery Captain) -
“My name is Tyler and I am a rising senior. This will be my second year as drum line captain and I am hoping my last year will be the best. You’ll soon learn that there are multiple Tylers in the band, but I’m the real one. I was in pit my freshman year and have been playing snare ever since. I value communication between the band and percussion. Let’s make this season awesome!”
-Steven Sodomsky (Saxophone Section Leader)-
“Hi I’m Steven and I play sax. I am the sax captain this year and am super excited for this season although it is my senior year’s make this season great.”
-Hunter Marett (Equipment Captain)-
“Hello! I am going to be a senior next year and I have done marching band for 5 years. I play the tenor drums in the drumline. I am also a part of the DECA and am a huge gamer. I value respect and hard work.”
-Cameron Bray (Trombone Section Leader)-
“Hey, my name’s Cameron Bray and I’m going to be the trombone section leader this year. I am going to be a senior and I’ve been in band since 6th grade. I am in clubs such as Stand and National Honors Society. My favorite book series is a three-way tie between Mrs. Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, Artemis Fowl, and Percy Jackson.”
-Bradley Brosivitch (Pit Captain)-
“Hello! My name is Bradley Brosivitch and I am in pit. My senior year will be the second year as pit captain and hoping it will be great. Pit is the section of percussion that doesn’t march but stays in the front of the field. We are a pretty cool group and contribute to the enthusiasm of the band. Let’s make this year the best!”

“Hey I’m James and I am one of the two equipment captains this year. I am in percussion/ drumline and I have been in band since 6th grade. I am excited for what this year is going to bring.”
-Sarah Newton (Library Captain)-
“I’m Sarah Newton, and I’m a rising junior. I’ve played the clarinet since sixth grade along with several other instruments. In my free time, I’m an avid reader of fiction novels, and a member of the school’s Student
Council as well as many other clubs.”
-Mackenzie Connolly (Mellophone Section Leader)-
“Hi ya! My name is Mackenzie Connolly and I am a rising senior. I am the mellophone section leader and the uniform captain for this year. I have played trumpet, french horn, percussion, and mellophone during my time with the band, but I have taught myself piano and ukulele. I’ve been a dancer for the majority of my life and have the honor to be a part of this school’s theater arts program. I love sci-fi, reading, writing, comics, and being able to make people laugh. This is my 2nd family.”
-Nick Rini (Library Captain)-
“Hi I’m Nick guys, and I play trombone. I’m going to be a senior this year, and I’m also one of the library co-captains. I’ve been in marching band for 2 years, and symphonic band for 3 years. I like to play video games, learn about general science topics, and develop my unique sense of humor. Lastly, if you ever need any extra dazzle in your life, just come talk to me.”
-Ryan Spillane (Field Captain)-
“My name is Ryan and I play sax. This is my 4th year in marching band and I’m really excited to be a leader for this upcoming season. I hope to help make this marching season the best it can be. “
-Michael Kennaway (Brass Captain)-
“Hey my name is Michael, I’m the brass captain for marching band this year. I play baritone and I also play concert bass. I’m a junior this year, and have been in band since 6th grade. I’m excited for all of our rookies and our upcoming season.”
-Ben Pearce (Trumpet Section Leader)-
“My name is Ben. I play the trumpet and I'm going to be trumpet section leader for 2016-2017. I'm a junior, and I have been playing the trumpet ever since fifth grade. I'll play anything with a ball, and I'm very excited for this coming marching band season.”
-Alex Purcell (Low Brass/Reeds Section Leader) -
“Hi, my name is Alexander Purcell. I’ve been in band for six years (6th through 11th). I play tuba and trombone (jazz). I’m in small ensemble club, art club, and NHS. I’ll be a senior when band camp comes around. This year I am also going to be drawing the art for the show.”
-Erica Schneller (Color Guard Captain)-
“Hello everyone! My name is Erica Schneller and I am a color guard captain this year and am going to be a senior. I’ve gone through 3 years of color guard and winter guard (which you should join 2nd semester) and I plan on finishing both all four years! I love this band/guard family more than anything and I am super excited for the season. Can’t wait to meet with you all. Let’s make this the BEST season ever!!”

“My name is Taylor and I am so excited to be one of your drum majors. I am a senior and I play both flute and piccolo. Last year I was the flute section leader. I’m in the HOSA club and in Student Ambassadors. I hope you are excited for marching band this year; I know I certainly am. This band program has grown tremendously my four years. We started as an A band now we are AAAA. Welcome to the family.”
-Austin LaPiana (Drum Major)-
“As one of your drum majors, I am very much looking forward to a great season with my fellow musicians. I am a rising senior and am very involved with academia and clubs. My two favorite subjects are music and science, specifically biochemistry. I hope that I will be a gateway to the passion of music for the upcoming rookies and be there by your side throughout the season. I will make sure this year will be very exciting and lively. Taylor and I are your top role models and we will live up to everything band stands for (musicianship, camaraderie, enthusiasm, etc.). We do conduct the music and are the top student leaders, but I promise I will be your friend. I have past experience as a leader, such as woodwind captain. That being said-- yes, I play saxophone-- alto and soprano. I will try my absolute hardest to make my last year of marching band (and for others their first) the best Topsail has ever seen!”
